The Anionic-Cationic Trap
Colored hair craves conditioning-cationic polymers (Polyquaternium-7, Behentrimonium Methosulfate) that stick to damaged cuticles. But our shampoos rely on anionic surfactants like Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (SCI) and Sodium Coco-Sulfate (SCS). Anions and cations precipitate on contact. In a liquid, co-surfactants can solubilize them. In a dry bar, that precipitation turns into gritty lumps.

- Don't try to force a syndet bar to pH 4.0. Use a buffer system: Sodium Lactate + Lactic Acid to maintain 5.5-6.0 without eating the bar.

The Invisible Thief: Oxidation During Curing
During the 3-4 week curing process, the bar itself can oxidize. SCI contains natural fatty acids that form peroxides when exposed to air and light. Those peroxides attack color molecules on the hair.

- Add Tocopherol (Vitamin E) at 0.2% and Rosemary Oleoresin Extract (0.05%) into the oil phase before cooling. This prevents rancidity during curing.
